guenther Malek
I am rendering an anmaition with a lot of trees with the help of ForestPack. (They are mostly far away and very small. (forest) How can i optimize my 3d trees for speeding up rendering? Does anyone know a tutorial covering this topic?
eduardasvuskvariokas
Depending on the closiness to camera you can make the trees using two or three planes with opacity each and then seed those trees. If you want some more control, you could look into LOD and set the threshhold where the model will degrade depending on distance. Just google LOD and you should find plenty of info. While these are more of game industry solutions, they might be worth looking into. Else wait for someone that offers architectural solutions
James Vella
set the bitmap blur to 1.0 for all the leaf textures. in forest you can select under camera settings > Density values for your trees as a distance from the camera eg. after 50 meters they become less dense. If you really have to you can also use LODs within forest aswell and swap out with lower res trees at a certain distance.
