Tom Bussey
Anyone using and have feedback on cloud based render farms? Interested in the Vray one and Also Deadline with Amazon Web Services, how these compare with each other on performance and price and how they compare to traditional render farms. I've not done any research on either yet TBH but checking in here first.
notamondayfan
AWS is complicated, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're using it a lot. The set-up time alone would put me off. I prefer using a render farm. Currently I use RenderBuzz, mainly because their plugin in Max is brilliant, and there's actually someone you can live chat to if you have any problems. Francisco Penaloza
Yes, I also agree that using AWS consumes lots of time to prep, and is complicated. They are a good option if you need exclusivity and scaling easily. But for what I do, Services such Rebus works just fine, no headaches. I tried VRay cloud, it worked fine, but prices are not great for me.
Tom Bussey
Thanks guys, yes it looks like you're right, AWS is probably great for medium to large studios with an existing farm, but for me it's probably overkill right now. My first farm experience was not totally positive, but I'll try a few others before giving up.
