Tom Bussey
Is it only clock speed that I should be looking at? We have some machines languishing under a desk and a spare Vray licence going unused most of the time so I want to use one as a DR node/Render slave. i7-6700 or i7-4790 I haven't check the speed on the machines themselves, but the intel site says it's 3.4Ghz and 3.6Ghz respectively. Both have 32Mb of RAM https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/compare.html?productIds=80806,88196
maxschramp
The i7-6700 will be faster. Because all of the other variables (Cores, Threads, RAM) are the same the clock speed is what you'll be looking at. You can also look at V-Ray Benchmark to find the score of your processor, in this case the i7-6700 scores higher.
Tom Bussey
clock speed is what you'll be looking at. Clock speed is slightly higher on the 4790 though. But on the Vray benchmark, the 6700 does have a higher score.
