zhopudey
Hi all, I use VRay GPU on a regular basis, but have to switch to CPU for an animation project. It's been so long since I've used vray cpu that I'm a bit fuzzy about some of the settings. Specially since GPU makes it so easy with only a couple of settings to tweak. So, what is the difference between the noise threshold setting in "Bucket Image Sampler" and the one in "Global DMC"? Is there a general range I should follow? tia... Francisco Penaloza
Well the answer is not simple really, and in practicality most of the time you should not mess with those setting unless you really know what you are trying to achieve. IF you are used to the simplicity of VRay GPU then on the CPU side is exactly the same. Just adjust your maximum samples and noise threshold that's all, or you can also use progressive method and play with the time to render. https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY4MAX/Global+DMC+Settings
zhopudey
Thanks for the reply. But which noise threshold to adjust? There are two...
Francisco Penaloza
if you are using a VRay version after 3.x you should reset all settings to default and only concentrate on the noise threshold of the antialising or Buket image sampler(called that way in VRay next), this is a unified method now so adjusting that noise threshold and maximum sampler will adjust as need it all other samples.
