SajSingh
Hello, Does anyone know how to map a floor surface which is not uniform, for example a large graphic carpet to fit a map perfectly to the model shape. I have a floor design which has a border that goes all the way around. Thanks,

TomD_Arch
No. You haven't provided any of the requisite information someone would need to start helping you.
SajSingh
I'm sorry, new here, I don't know what you mean by required information... Please let me know what you need. Thanks,
TomD_Arch
What program and version are you using, what rendering software, etc. Maybe post an image of the rug map you are using so others that want to help can use it to post an example back, etc.
SajSingh
Sure, I'm using 3D MAX with Corona render. The job is commissioned so unfortunately I'm not allowed to share the file. But I'm guessing this would be a generic solution to flooring.?
John Dollus
well, if I understand you correctly, you are trying to create an inset within a floor shape that contains more than 4 corners but that's just a guess. One way would be to select your floor object, edit poly, select the floor surface and then inset it by whatever dimension is your border and either detach it as a separate object or assign a unique mat ID and handle it through the material definition. That's about as generic as i can give ya without more info. Since everything is top secret, how about finding a similar image on Houzz and uploading that instead?
