Mark Sweeney
Hi. I wondered if anyone had advice on what they consider the best Arch Viz training available today. It's not a clandestine way to name drop particular outlets, but a genuine question. I considered doing this several years ago, but life intervened, and now I am back in this place. At that time (several years ago) there was Orekhov's training, but it seemed expensive and to a degree problematic because his team weren't english speaking. I see what look like some high profile new options, but am unsure of their legitimacy and wondering if anyone has any experience with these or better? There is something called SOA academy in Venice, but it seems to be residential only? I also see (in UK, where I am) something called "VizAcademy" but this seems to be a new company with some good reviews but little track record. I welcome any thoughts, but I would be grateful if people wouldn't just reply with "just teach yourself." I have every intent on doing that as well, but there is stil advantage to some kind of concentrated training. These courses are expensive though, and it doesn't seem altogether easy to separate the good ones from the overblown? Experience: basic level with 3dsmax and vray several years ago (rusty, so in effect, starting from near scratch).
Scott Schroeder
Brick Visual has, what I would assume, a pretty good course. The biggest issue that I've found with training is that it can be hard to use when you get real jobs. The work you do in training is usually very high end and many clients just don't want to pay for the hours it takes to get there and all of a sudden you let your skills rust again. YouTube is a great resource these days. Arqui9 is an excellent channel. The Rendering Essentials is another good one.
Mark Sweeney
Thank you for this reply, VelvetElvis. I think it will likely have to be an online option though? Budapest / Italy etc are a little out of the way for me here in UK, as well as (probably) lingering Corona concerns in the near future.
