How are you creating the background?  Is the exterior all in photoshop?

I like the composition, smoke and the general color balancing the warm and cool tones.

A few comments I have.

1. To my eye the forest looks out of scale and a bit blurry.

2. I would try to get something in the foreground a tree trunk or something similar to give a bit of depth and detail.

3. I would try to layer the forest background so you can create a bit of atmospheric depth. Lightening or darkening parts of the forest that are farther back.

4. Maybe add a tree closer to the structure that overlaps part of the building or window to make it feel nestled in the woods.

Color grading is not my strong suit and I don't use a very calculated approach and do a lot of adjusting until it "feels" right to me.  I use curves a lot more than LUT's.

As for the composition is feels a bit crowded.  Here is a quick and dirty adjustment adding a bit of space and using a general rule of thirds making sure there is more breathing room in the quadrants.

The tree on the left still seems a bit close to the cabin but it was hard to adjust in a flattened image.

This is a good article. Simple and to the point.

There is also a book that I'm just finishing up now that is pretty awesome! Not just composition but story telling in general.
