Trick
So you have to buy a $400 license for every 2 processors you have?... As for now, yes...for both sequential and distributed...
Ernest Burden III
That would sure add to the cost of farming. I am frustrated. I am just starting the perfect project to try Maxwell out. It a space that I will probably have to render in Lightscape, since it will probably be too much for Cinema because of a lot of specific lighting. So the Maxwell plug for Cinema would be perfect, but I need it THIS month.
Trick
If you have a lot of specific lighting, Lightscape is a far safer bet if you need it THIS month. ATM Maxwell does not support IES lights: since IES is a 3D polar diagram of the radiation pattern of a complete Luminaire (not just the bulb) I think it will take a while before these are supported, regarding the current restrictions. Rendering 10 or 1000 of lights is almost equally fast in Maxwell, but if you want to simulate lights which use glass lenses to define specific patterns, then you have to include caustics in your render, and then seeing your kids grow up can be a lot faster;)
