Alternative for AutoCad to strip drawings

In our studio we use an old version of AutoCad to strip 2D drawings which we get from our clients to use as a base to model on.

As AutoCad is quit expensive for a tool just to strip down drawings we are looking for an alternative.
Does anybody know a good alternative which is cheaper or maybe even free ?

if you're only using 2D, then AutoCAD LT is a fraction of the cost of full AutoCAD

or try Bricscad

 

Alternatively, just get yourself a full AEC subscription, which gives you full AutoCAD, Max, Revit and a bunch of other things, MUCH cheaper than getting Max and Revit by itself
