Character animation styles can be broadly categorized, but they aren't limited to just five styles. Here are some of the common ones:

  1. Traditional Animation (2D): This includes hand-drawn animation where each frame is drawn by hand. Classic examples include Disney's early films like "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."

  2. Digital 2D Animation: This is similar to traditional 2D animation but is created using digital tools. Examples include shows like "Rick and Morty" and "Adventure Time."

  3. 3D Animation: This involves creating characters and environments in a three-dimensional space using software. Examples include Pixar movies like "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo."

  4. Stop Motion Animation: This involves physically manipulating objects and photographing them one frame at a time. Examples include "Wallace and Gromit" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

  5. Motion Graphics: This style is often used in commercials, title sequences, and explainer videos. It focuses on animating graphic elements and text rather than characters. Examples include various infographics and promotional videos.

Other styles and techniques include:

  1. Claymation: A form of stop-motion animation using clay figures. Examples include "Chicken Run" and "Shaun the Sheep."

  2. Cutout Animation: This style uses flat characters, props, and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric, or even photographs. Examples include "South Park."

  3. Rotoscoping: This involves tracing over live-action footage to create realistic animation. Examples include "A Scanner Darkly" and parts of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."

  4. Anime: A style of animation that originated in Japan and features distinctive character designs and backgrounds. Examples include "Naruto," "Dragon Ball," and "My Neighbor Totoro."

  5. Hybrid Animation: Combining different animation styles and techniques, such as mixing 2D and 3D animation. Examples include "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."

Each style has its unique characteristics and uses, and animators often blend styles to create innovative and engaging visual experiences.
