Karin Skaug
I need a new computer for work. I have a laptop with a RTX 2080. It makes A LOT of noise. ALL THE TIME. The only way I can get it to shut off the fans is to pull the plug and let the machine run on battery. I also have an old workstation with almost the same card (Possibly A4000 -definately 8 gb ) which is nice and silent. I think about ordering a new workstation (because it is silent) even though I really want a laptop, but can't stand to work daily in such noise. Does anyone have any experience to share on new graphics cards in laptops? Or can't you hear me through the noise? 😉
Ricardo Eloy
Not a hardware expert here, but I'm pretty sure you can use Nvidia's software to control the fan speed (which is likely causing the noise). When you run on battery power, it automatically speeds down the fan, hence making less noise. I guess it's worth checking out before shelling out 2K....
