cullen
Does anyone know where I can find some good texture maps for driveways and streets? I want to give it the look that is't been there for a while and been driven on and such. If anyone can point me in the right place or has some they wouldn't mind sharing, it would be great. Thanks, crw
IC
I normally start off with this one and then add to it depending on the look I'm after:
archkre
But Ian:that map is extremely tiny.! How do you map your street so as not to notice any tiling? Thanks a lot!
IC
Just make the size of the texture match the real world size of the map. Then add some layers on top. Here's an example using that jpeg and a concrete one laid on top.......
archkre
(Stupid question) How should I make the size of the texture match the real world size of the map? 1)By changing the original 400X400 to about 300'X300' in Photoshop Or 2)using the little original map as pattern and fill a new big blank file with it? What was the procedure you used to pass from the original asphalt.jpg to the applied material in the perspective? Thanks a lot!
IC
I don't use Max but I know the principles are the same for planar or cubic mapping. All you have to do is apply the map to your object as a 500x500mm tile(or whatever size looks right). Then I apply another map with about 30% opacity (again whatevever looks right). Add to that as you see fit. Generally the more layers, the more realistic but you can go overboard. I copy the same maps for bump and specularity and remove or adjust them to suit. This is a typical starting point in my texturing process. Hope it helps.

cullen
That looks great Strat. Thanks for the help with yours too Iain. I'm having a little trouble trying to use the technique that you are talking about but I was able to get the job done in photoshop. Thanks again, crw
