Hi, thanks for msg me. :) It's so easy. Ok, this is the steps that i've done :

1) I've download the Direct X 9.0b from http://www.superfoxs.com and uninstall the Direct X 9.0b. (If this way not work, you just click >Start >Run and type : regedit >OK and double -click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then double -click SOFTWARE > Microsoft > DirectX. You should right click on this folder and delete it). :)

2) Then you should have DirectX 9.0c installer. Get the 2 dll files from the previous nasheet's msg (DSETUP.dll and d32setup.dll) and replace to DirectX 9.0c installer (make sure you replace it) and finally install it normally.

3) Finally, click >Start >Run> dxdiag and BINGO! Its done!

(I'm sorry because i'm not fluently in English) :)

After reading all posts and doing everything what's been said...

Still 9.0b... Dunno.. Its the XP SP2 Beta I think... Could this be the problem?

Also tried uninstalling 9.0b and reinstalling 9.0c.. It seems to work, but dxdiag still says 9.0b...

Perhaps someone knows the supertrick? I think Triz would also be happy ;)

THX for ya help

Only way for me solving this prob was re-installing XP.. in a FULL version, not beta or any other...

Thats how i solved it. Uncomfortable, but works :)

Btw: Be careful with betas/corporate editions... they mustn't work with 9.0c at all..

Hope, it helps ...

i changed the directx version values in the registry, that helped me to install max.but that's not what you shall do,I am attaching two files here, overwrite them to your directx 9.0c folder and run dxsetup again....if this does not solve it....check out happy installer version 2.0....http://www.superfoxs.com/

hope it helps.

I just wanted to thank you for helping me out of a world of frustration. Apparently I installed a "broken" version of DirectX 9 that came with my drivers (big mistake) and the bloom effects for Guild Wars wouldn't work.

So I downloaded the latest 9.0c redist, and it wouldn't install; it said everything was good to go.

Downloaded the modded files you provieded, copied them over the ones in the 9.0c folder and ran DXsetup... voila! It worked :D

Thanks again! I'm back to Guild Wars bloomy goodness. I gotta ask though, out of nerdy curiosity: What is special about these files that I just added? How did they trick 9.0c into installing properly?

Thanks again for the help! I'm so glad I stumbled across this place.

can u tell me how can i know which directx version do i have installed in my pc?

Hey ya sMs,

Go to Run (start > run) then type (DXDIAG). The DirectX Diagnostic Tool should pop up. Under the System Information section, down at the bottom, it'll show you the DirectX version your system has installed.

Good luck m8

Same problem guys. I already changed my version to 4.09.00.0904, in happy uninstall it says 9.0c, but in dxdiag it still says 9.0b. Apparently, this dxdiag is important because I still cant play the games which require 9.0c. Anybody got any ideas on how to solve this? By the way, the guy who initiated this has been gone for quite a while.
