juanjgon
HI ... I am writing a new shader to Softimage XSI to work specially in architecture projects. As you know XSI is a powerfull software, but work with shaders and textures in complex archictecture projects could be a pain because his powerfull texturing tools could make to slow and complex all process of material creation, and using native texture supports and projections could make imposible transfer in easy way a material from one object to other. My shader "Simple Shader", is, like his name says, a new simple way to texture objects specially created to get all you need in one single window. You can asing basic material properties and up to four layers of textures using cubic map projection in color and bump channels. This textures are apply using position, scale and rotation coordinates from object origin, so you dont need any kind of UV, texture projection or support, so texture proccess is fast, and you can load/save/copy/paste materials from one object to other really easy. You can also control some global illumination parameters, smooth of this material, and even it has four layers of horizontal gradients to simulate dirt ... You can download it free at http://www.genesisvisual.net/ss This shader is in continuous development, but this last version 105 is full funcional now ... Best regards, Juan J. TheAllusionisst
Juanjgon, Thanks I will check it out. I purchased SoftImage, but have not had a lot of time to learn it. The texturing portion is definitely on place I am struggling in a little
Alex York
Great stuff Juan! I'll be testing this out tonight. Many thanks.
