STRAT
well im into retro stuff in a big way. for my love of aviation i've got myself a vertibird, several 70's control line planes and 'copters. other than my laptop, my gaming computers are a megadrive, an atari ST a ZX81 and a Spectrum (which i all still regulaly use). I'm nearly always on ebay buying something from my youth.
derijones
Thanks Strat - I needed cheering up this morning after a load of renders crashed overnight! Some cool toys there, but got to agree that Raleigh bikes were the DB's - I was so chuffed at getting a new Grifter (including the little flap on the front mudguard you could fold over to make "motorbike" noises). The fact that it weighed a tonne never crossed my mind - we must all have been much fitter when we were kids! I can remeber going to Toys R' Us in Cardiff when it first opened and getting thrown out on a regular basis for messing about with the toys as we never had any money ....(hard times in Pontypridd - cue Monty Python type jokes!) STRAT
no, i was born in Beddau, then lived in Ponty for a year or 2, then moved to Penarth when i was 3. Only time i've ever been back is when i did my architectural college course in the technical college in Rhydyfelin (as it was known then) about 15 years ago. saying that, i do drive by every now and then when im visiting friends and family. derijones
Lucky Man - I lived there for 10 years! I go back every now and then, but it's not the most inviting of places really. You've got me thinking now about me yoof - things like the Square Club in Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach and a small club around the back of St Mary's st (I think) that had incredibly low ceilings - my mate was 6' 5" and had to dance with his head bent - very odd place. Is there still plenty of work with the bay down there, or have things calmed down a bit - we did the design and build for the big passenger catamaran (Seren Y Bae) that trundles about down there a couple of years ago - must go down and have a trip on it - you get some good views of some of the architecture around the bay from sea level - though last time we were doing 20knots in a rigid raider - something like 3 minutes from Mermaid Quay to Penarth! derijones
Nah - Choppers were the best for pulling wheelies and had that cool gear changer - sort of a Capri for kids. Not as good for BMX type stunts though - endo's, bunny hops and mag wheels - now we're talking!
