3dfreelancer
I need some newbee help here (I may be well trained in max, but this is my first encounter with cad files). I have got a number of drawings in dwg format which I try to import into max (version 6, but I have tried version 7 at a colleague too). They simply import wrong; no text, "exploded" and displaced. I have tried them on a free dwg viewer and the files are perfect. I have loaded the files in a TurboCAD Pro trial and they look fine although it seems that there are 3 phanes in each file; a model/construction phane and two drawings in different output sizes. What I need to get into max is one of the drawings - but what seems to get imported is the model phane only. I guess I have a couple of "help tokens" at the architects - but I would rather save them for later. Kind regards 3dfreelancer
Harjeet Singh
if you have access to acad, exporting the dwg to dxf may be very helpul. thanks harjeet
3dfreelancer
Hi all And thank you for your inputs! I still have problems though. I had someone open the files in Acad (2004) and the files are allright. But max only imports the modelspace (the contruction of parts for the final drawings) and not the layouts (the drawings themselves). I have tried saving to dxf but it is still only the modelspace which gets imported. I also tried to install a HPGL plotter and plot a layout to a plt file - then converting the plt-file to dwg from within acad. This was part success but in many places the precision of the original layout was lost. For now I will simply output some images from acad of the layouts and map them in my max viewport - just to get somewhere. There will be no snapping though ;-( 3dfreelancer
gustav_gans
hi! i think u will never get the layouts in max - by the way i dont know why u wanna have them - u arleady have the model space. anyway, one method to get the layouts would be printing an eps an importing them into max! regards
Jonny English
try opening them in Autocad and then exporting as a 3DS file, sometimes that solves problems.
