Philip Johnson dead at 98

Wow. I had him as a guest studio crit in 1998. He shuffled along really slow but was still as sharp as a tack.

Having lived in Houston, I have seen the best and the worst of Philip Johnson... but one thing is for sure. He was proably one of the greatest voices in architecture on the 20th century. Mies would not be as big if not for him.

gosh, he was an inspiration during my college years...i even did a report in our class about his works and achievements....

I don't care for anything he's done, for the most part, but his influence helped bring some of the greats to the forefront of architecture. He was responsible for Frank Israel's rise to fame (a personal fav) and was probably one of the most powerful men in architecture in the last 100 years.
