Verma
When I try to open any file created in 3ds max 7 it gives Missing Dll's error: reactor.dlc and ParamEditor.gup I know what these files are for, just wondering if there's any work around? Bugga_Guy
That's because Viz2005 is not totally the same as max. Your error is Viz's way of telling you of what things were created in Max that is not compatible with Viz (ie. Reactor). I am not to familiar with with max 7 but I am sure that a work around is to convert objects with reactor etc. to edible meshes - remove the modifiers within max, or finally you can export the file to a 3ds, and re import to viz. abicalho
MAX 6 cannot read MAX 7 files. VIZ 2005 is based on MAX 6, so it cannot read MAX 7 files. There are scripts (like BFF) that allow you to do so. Another option is to export to LP, FBX or other formats and then re-import in VIZ 2005. Verma
BFF Script and FBX Plugin, both are not updated for max 7 yet. I guess the only option would be to use .3ds format.
abicalho
MAX 7 ships with FBX. The BFF script works in R7 too. It doesn't need to be updated.
Brian Cassil
Another option is to export to LP, FBX or other formats and then re-import in VIZ 2006. Viz 2006? Did I miss an announcement?
Verma
My mistake, I meant to say Viz 2005 rather max 7. When I searched for that script and FBX plugin for viz, I could not find it. BUT to my surprise, viz 2005 also comes with FBX built in. Now only if the conversion was so smooth...... Thanks for all your input though.
