Sawyer
http://www.boxxtech.com/swf/index.asp What are these rendering nodes? They look like they could be really nice that is if I knew what they were. I assume they are just extra muscle for rendering applications.
Frosty
Boxx RenderBoxes are simply rackmounted CPUs. They have smaller HDs and weak graphics cards. They are intended to be run as you said "like extra muscle" so large HDs and high end video cards arent required. Most 3D apps have network rendering abilities and this is where you would use these machines. My gut feeling though, is that you could build low cost bare bones PCs to do the same job for less money. Sawyer
Thanks Frosty that was what I thought. I love the idea - I am tired of upgrading a computer that is faster than just about anything needs to be (aside from this rendering stuff). I think just buying extra power & not having to change all of my settings sounds great. But this is just fantasy time now I am not really looking to upgrade. "My gut feeling though, is that you could build low cost bare bones PCs to do the same job for less money. " Good point. I however could not build one that would do the job but I get the point.
