Ernest Burden III
The image looks like a color image that was desaturated, not like a black and white image. There are no blacks, and no whites. OK, the sky has some whites, but that only points out what's lacking in the rest. Mask off the sky, use curves or levels to find your white point and black point, then play with the middle value (gamma). Were you intending to do an InfraRed-type image with the plants? If so, you need to push the effect. Was the original a color render? Look at one of the methods for color>BW conversions: http://www.adobe.com/tips/phs8colorbw/main.html The simplest way is to usethe Photoshop Adjust>channel mixer: Using color channels in RGB, check the 'monochrome' box and mix away, I usually start with about 2/3 green to 1/3 red, 0 blue, adjust seasoning to taste.
