nisus
Hi all, I've been modelling a building in m7 instead of our usual m3... I must admit, something looks VERY wrong with the constraints. Basicly, I'm used to set a constraint (XY) and than work with it... In m7 as soon as I click on the 'new' translation icon, the constraints change UNWANTED. How can I turn this of?? Another thing I'd like to turn off is the preset checkboxes when using the align tool because nothing is more frustrating than to see you object disappear before aligning it... Any tips are welcome rgds nisus
Verma
It takes a while to get used to the transform gizmo specially if you're jumping to version 7 from Max 3. You can turn it off by hitting "x" key on your keyboard, however I'd recommend you to spend some time with it and start using the tool, it will save you a lot of time in the long run. About the defaults for Align tool, I'm not sure if its possible to turn them off.
nisus
Tnx. What about the automated constraints? rgds nisus
Verma
thats how its supposed to be. You have to be careful where you put your mouse cursor before clicking on the arrow. You'd notice as soon as you take your mouse over it, the color changes to yellow which indicates the axis of next transform. It is a little frustating in the beginning but when you understand it completely you'd thank discreet for this.
nisus
Really I don't like it. For me there is NO POINT in clicking NEXT to - not ON - the object (but on the square in the icon) to get an XY-constraint. I'm just tired of having to work with a turnaround... select object / lock selection / click on object and move it / unlock selection / deselect object... Why can't max be like windows? I mean, windows comes with LOTS of bells and chimes, BUT it has the ability to get rid of all of this and use a 'classic' interface... (Am I the first one to point out something GOOD on windows? ;-p) rgds nisus
