I don't usually post my work, but I figure I'll never get better if I don't get some outside constructive criticism!

Max 6 and the latest VRay Beta. Render time about 1.5 hrs. All landscaping added in Photoshop except for the hedge of bushes at the base of the building.

Hey Eric. I like the image a lot. Very nice post process. Just a few minor things that I noticed after staring hard. The spot lights on the front facade are on and it is a daylight image. I say this because it is making that wall a little splotchy. The shrubs in front of the red car on the left seem too saturated, as do the trees in the back. Other than that I like it a lot. Very nice glass.

Good Job!

Hey, Eric.

Good to see a local guy post :-) Seeing that Abuelos makes me hungry for their papas con chile - love that stuff...

To the image just a couple of things:

  • Statue in the front looks flat - perhaps because this is a much smaller image than the final product and I'm not able to see the details.

  • The flowers in the very front are too bright IMO - they distract my eye from the building.

  • The Red "Z" looks very 'blah' compared to the Mini. No reflections in the windows or the body.

  • One more thing...the buildings in the background seem to be lit with a very orange light. This doesn't match the lighting on the restaurant.

The rendering looks great - just a few things in Photoshop to tweak.

Thanks for the comments guys! There aren't very many (valuable) comments on my image from the co-workers in my office usually.

I added the foreground flowers the last minute - I'm not sure how well I like them. They add a nice touch (I think) but I agree they might draw a little too much attention in their current state. If the client hasn't already printed it out, I might try to change them.

The lighting is off a little too on the building. I usually add a bit of a gradient as an overlay of color - the one that goes from like purple to orange, with orange at the top. I'm not sure I allowed it to have enough impact on the final results. Maybe I can pop it up a little more.

The statue actually came from a photograph scan sent to me by the architect long ago. It's been through so many resizes and copied from one project to another that I think it's lost much of its detail. I think I need to break down and model it in 3D. I hate modeling organic elements...

Oh, and that Z is actually a Toyota Celica. I've never been crazy about that particular 3D model, especially from the rear and from the edge of a wide-angle lense. It looks pretty odd at the current angle. Perhaps I'll re-render that portion of the image and drop it out completely?

The reflections in the windows are an Environment HDRI image - so there should be some reflections in the windows as there is with the rest of the cars, but perhaps there wasn't anything noticeable in the portion of the HDRI image to be reflected?

The glass at the entry is actually just the EgzGlass material with a green tint, and the reflections were added in photoshop. I re-rendered that portion of the image with reflections/HRDI removed because the quality of the HDRI wasn't good enough to provide good reflections, and it was stretched wierd. So, google and Photoshop did the trick.

Thanks for the comments guys!
