Mario Pende
Just had a litlle chat with my friends (and a few beers, ofcourse)...anyway a subject came out...imagine tommorow you come on CgArch, and BANG news Lightscape 3.5. in devlopment...ohhh boy we had a nice chat!!! Just dont get it why someone doesnt buy Lightscape licence and starts developing it...that would realy be an invesment that would pay off in seconds... even today Lighstcape is still on the top of Architecture visualisation, and just a tought of relesing a new version, I dont know, it would probably couse an hurrican in CG world

Ernest Burden III
The only problem is that Autodesk/Dscreet owns Lightscape. There is your answer. Autodesk did not buy Lightscape to develope it, they bought it to KILL it. And that is exactly what they did. While it's still too early to be SURE of this, I think the new Maxwell render engine is what Lightscape would have been if it had lived. We will know within the next 6 months probably. I still use Lightscape, and I am trying very hard to NOT use it anymore. The problem is, it still works better than anything else. But we all need to repeat the mantra "Lightscape is dead" Are you chanting, people?
mtutaj
Ernest, I agree with you, I have slowly made the transition to Max with the help of final render over the last year. Some things were soo easy in Lightscape.. and was never happy with how autodesk delt with the whole purchase. But what can we do. I told my disappointment to some Project managers I have delt with at Autodesk 18 months ago. but what else can we do but move on. Mike
Mario Pende
What should someone do or can someone even buy Lightscape licence back?... Maxwell, yeap thats been a top subject latly, I agree that i would be definetly something to work with...but then its boders me that it will not have ability to burn GI into mesh, and then animate, animate, animate... this is probably where a lot of you wont agree...but for me still waithing for 10 hours or even 5 hours for just a single image ( for architectual vis) is realy a ??? Think about it...maily we are the ones who are alway seeking for THAT high dose of reality, for us waithing even 10 days is nothing, if we know that the image would be "Mona Lisa", but it realy comes down to speed and our customers...think you what Im aiming to
Elliot
Hello, I will not wait more than 30 to 45 minutes no matter what.....! Elliot
ecastillor
I still use lightscape to make interior animations. I calculate the lighting solution in LS and render in Viz and this will save me days of rendering time. So it would be nice if LS made a comeback.
