exarkit
ok i start by saying i am on a 2nd year of a FD CAD modelling and animation corse. working on my 2nd year project. and yet with all my knollage and time put into max, at this point in time i cant get a realistic look to a interoir room in the day time with no lights on in the house, i been looking at the tut's on this site for the lighting, and there is somethink i seem to be missing on it, i tryed other ways both scanline and MR, i got rule to follow thought the project, to keep render times down, to under 5 minutes but i getting to the point where is around that time with out any real detail in the textures. i can seem to get the sunlight effect on the floor, i dont know if this is just me getting too worked up about uni stuff and not rembering basic things, with the renders i at attaching, - i just got the basic room set up no items in it yet, once i am happy that the rendering time is right for the room i will add the items and work on the decore. with out light tracer it renders in 30sec , but wiht lighttracer with out bounce 30 sec, with bounce set to 1 it renders in 6minutes. JamesTaylor
From your images it appears your light source is emitting from the centre of the room, giving the hotspots on each wall. I would place an area light over each window emitting light into the centre of the room. You could then place a spot light outside the modelled room to cast the highlight / shadow of the light entering thro the glass and window frame on the floor. DennisHolland
Hi, one one 'scene covering' spot or directional outside and let it shine in from an angle with shadowmapping turned on and just outside each window an arealight (dimensions of the windows) shining in the room, GI on. That's the basic, after that you will need to tweak your mult. Tip: try vray for a while...

JamesTaylor
i would suggest removing all the lights which are of the omni type. its is advisable to try and avoid using omni lights as they do not produce reliatic results.
