Susan
Does anybody here use squiggle? I looks like all it does is convert your model outlines to wavy lines in various colours. What else does it do? I understand there is a new version coming out. Anybody know what it will do that the present one isn't doing and will you upgrade to it if it comes out? 3dp
try this as a cheap alternative cad viewer and sketchy bolt on guy who writes this lives near me seems to have all the import exports and the wizzle feature seems to have a lots more freedom than squiggle - you really can get a true handrawn feel from this http://www.cadwizz.com/cadview.htm tell em arcimage sent you
Susan
Thanks, that's very interesting and far cheaper. I own Piranesi though and I'm betting I can accomplish the same thing with it. I'm going to give it a try. I just wondered how many people still have a need for only that standalone functionality in an application. From the answers here, it seems no one is really using it much. I guess it's just old time Architects using plotters that are using this.
Chad Warner
I used it a while ago....It's nice for setting up "sketchy" looking lines for perspectives, you can control crossover, wiggle amount, etc. The one thing I didn't like about the version I was using is that it was next to impossible to get a usable format out of it that I could bring into Photoshop. If I had to do it right now, I wouldn't be able to remember the steps. -Chad
Susan
Chad, that no longer appears to be the case. The current version does this: "Export drawings as BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG raster images " There's a new version coming out that has added file types and functionality. Someone e-mailed me about the steps to take to accomplish the same thing in Photoshop. Haven't tried it yet. Someone else told me it can also be done in Painter. Piranesi doesn't quite do it at this point. I think it's a valuable function, but it should be something properly availble in other applications. I shouldn't have to be just a standalone product. Chad Warner
Susan- I would completely agree with you on that one. The main reason I used it was to get the hand drawn line look for "traditional" media renderings. So it was a huge hassle to go through just to get lines. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything else that will do it quite as well. Although I haven't looked into the cad viewer program.
