Hi ppl! This is my first post on cgarchitect but have been following the WIP, articals and competitions for quite some time now. I thaught i might aswell post some of my work, where-as iam still far from good with 3ds max and help from the pros won't do any harm. I've lately started experimenting with mental ray on a plane bedroom and just wanted some input on the lighting and the realism of the scene. Iam still rendering at quite low values and pretty soon i will realy set it up hi for a nice 13hour render or something.

Very good render for your first time.

(Awesome infact)

But I think there are couple of things you need to take notice...

1. the floor is too reflective, and you didn't model/make the groove to be apparent between the tiles, it just seems like a piece of very reflective "floor" paper.

2. There are a lot of uneven edges and light/shadow leaks. You might need to increase the sample range, also check to see if your model is air tight..(there might be some little gaps in your model that isn't welded/seal off.

3. I like your use of bump map on the bed sheet, its' the best use of it I have seen for a long time, make that white bed sheet just look even more realistic.

4. The sunlight on the left seems kinda weird, that it didn't increase the brightness on the wall near it.. or the surrounding area. It just seems kinda bizzare. Need to recheck your solution. (increase the bounce?)

Over all I think it's very good! Good work.

Thx for the feedback richard!! The light leaks i think r accuring because of the low poly cornises, they r bascily only extruded lines. the values r quite low in this render but will jack it up abit. Tiles, good point! will work on some detail there. Iam just working on the overall lighting now and then ill add more things 2 it. Think that will add alot to the atmosphere of the iamge!
