mental ray????

ahoy!

 

i would like the help of anyone and everyone who reads this please....2 questions:

 

1: i need a tutorial that will show me how to set up an exterior scene for architecture ie. where the lights should be etc, aswell as what mental ray's settings should be on and so forth....

 

2: i need a tutorial that will show me how to light up a room properly also using mental ray ie. where lights should be and mental rays rendering settings.....

 

if anyone could point me to a specific website/tutorial - that would be awesome!!!!!!!!

I'm trying to work out Mental Ray at the moment and have found these mental ray "unchallenge" threads really useful, not quite tutorials but plenty of discussion with hints and tips which have helped me a lot...

I recently purchased SoftImage XSI and am in the process of learning it. There is a standalone program (Freeware I believe) BA_Lightdome that takes an image and creates an array of lights based on the image and creates a virtual basic routine that you run in Softimage and it creates the light setup for you, lots of tweaks in the process.

 

In addtion, one of the members in my forum uses SoftImage and he has been doing little screen shot + narrative mini tutorials on issues that arise explaining the features and how to use them. If you are using SoftImage, I imagine you could post a question and get an answer to the matter. I haven't done any interior renderings yet so I am not sure of the best proces for that. Good luck, I would be interested in hearing what you find for tutorials.
