Alex York
Hi everyone. I'm really getting into this now and would love some better reference to work from. I'm living in a rather un-inspiring area of the UK so photography of my own is not much of an option. (unless for some reason I intend to produce only abandoned industrial landscapes!) I've been checking out various archi mags, Architectural Review in particular, but they are so expensive over here! (UK). Can anyone recommend a good online directory of ultra modern interior/exterior architectural photos? Many thanks in advance.
IC
Alex I think the reason for lack of replies to your thread is the lack of resources you are looking for. I don't know why this should be but it's really difficult to find anything. I've found a couple of good sites but not kept them as bookmarks. Try individual high profile Architects' websites and things like Habitat for interiors. AJplus is a good site but you have to subscribe. Good luck
jackb602
I've been checking out various archi mags, Architectural Review in particular, but they are so expensive over here! (UK). Ha! If you think Architectural Review is expensive in the UK, try buying it at a US bookstore. It's probably the best architecture magazine in the world, but I still can't bring myself to cough up $25 an issue. If you want more complete documentation of buildings, books are probably the best resource. A university library will probably have a great collection, and a good bookstore should have some monographs as well. Another great (but also expensive) magazine to try is Detail (http://www.detail.de/En/Aktuell/Index). They have beautiful scale drawings of every project they publish. Alex York
These are great guys, thanks a lot. Yep the money thing is a problem. My uni doesn't have a very good collection of archi books unfortunately. I don't know why.. they have just about everything else there! I'll be sure to check out those sites. Many thanks Alex PS. $25 an issue?! Blimey....

Alex York
that is just perfect! i wish i'd known about this earlier. my current project report could have seriously benefitted from it! many thanks
Crazy Homeless Guy
Dwell magazine is only $20 a year. They typically don't hit the big name designers as much, but have great contemporary int/ext residential images.
Alex York
$20 sounds ok, but I bet that's not including shipping to the UK. I'll have a look. Thanks for the headsup.
Tim Nelson
I'm always too cheap to subscribe to anything, but if I did I would probably get Metropolis. It's got a little of everything. http://www.metropolismag.com/cda/

Brian O'Hanlon
This isn't anything really to do with photos, but I said, I should link it anyhow, for those of you interested in Architectural writing. http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/research/publications/hdm/back/index.html Have not investigated it much yet, but it was recommended to me.
