*since you are using standard lighting, set aside the OMNI lights, its the old version for me as a renderer are using. you can use v-ray light for the better . in this scene, put two vray lights at the center, remember the height is half the height of your ceiling. vray light settings: parameters: invisible-ON, mult-4.0, type-SPHERE, sizes-U:1 V:1 W:1. Sampling: Subd-10. this is a trial an error process, you can add more lights if you like and increase the multiplier value. outside(sun) light is diff.

*another option, if you want to use photometric lights, use free point light: simple settings: turn-ON the shadows shadow map par: bias-0, size-650, sample range 25..same process..try to put one in the middle and repeat(copy-instance) for more..good luck..

*i hope this could help you.. :D:D

Sherwin,

I think Roland here is looking for radiosity basics.

Roland,

I don't know Max so I can't advise but why not search the forums. I seem to say this in every post but if people have answered a question already, they can't be bothered to do it again and this is quite a common one.

Hi Roland,

The max file that i have send you previously has settings that are pretty much standard when you use it for the interior scenes. Just click on each light to see the lighting and shadow parameters.

If you have any queries drop me an e-mail... This should do for standard scanline render...

Good luck...

*ROLAND: since im using Radiosity before, here's the settings i was using before, basic one.. :)

---for the process: initial quality, you can set from 15-20% during trial/test rendering..for final..use this setting-85 to 90%

*cheers!

Do yourself a favor, and download Vray free, after its installed, asign it as the renderer, go to the renderer tab in the render dialog, there you will find different parts, go to indiect illumination, and check on, then go to evironment, and check, GI environment(skylight) overide MAX'S, then render.

You'll need to play around with the settings, mostly the quality, because it will be set to default which is low quality
