Devin Johnston
Architect rates vary depending on what type of job there working on, the level of design difficulty, and the size of the project. At my firm the top designers usually bill out around $150/hr but we typically do large commercial jobs. Contractors most usually will take the total cost of the project and take a percentage of that, but I'm not a contractor so I'm not an expert. It would be more helpful it you could say what it was that you were looking for.
jackb602
That's a very broad question, but in a nutshell, an architect's fee is usually a percentage of the construction cost. Depending on who you ask, this can range from 6%-16%, and more if you're a big star. I can't tell you as much about contractors, althought their fee is usually based on their costs and overhead, plus a profit. Jack
