tommyt
Can anyone shed light onto why some RPC cars look bad when rendered. The textures looked blurry and jagged and car looks like its a low poly, Any ideas. Thanks,
Devin Johnston
There are two types of RPC cars, one set is called parking lot cars; this type of car is ment for only viewing from a distance. There is another type which was ment to be viewed up close and you can also animate them fairley easily.
Eric
What RPC library are you using?
tommyt
unfortunately I not in the office at the moment, to the best of my knowledge it was a silver VW passat 2000 and it didnt have the parking lot logo on the thumbnail like the other content. Thats why I was so disappointed- I knew the parking lot ones were lower quality. I will know more tomorrow. cHEERS, tommyt
lambros
I think that all RPC cars are not to be rendered in the foreground...at least not very close to the camera.
Devin Johnston
yea, even the higher resolution cars are still going to have some jagged edges, there just not ment to be blown up very large.
tommyt
I will get a screengrab tomorrow and post it, it is really poor quality, It will explain all. Has anyone online work that shows a good rpc car? i would be interested in seeing one, Thanks, Tommyt
Eric
Here is some clips from an animation project I finished a while back. The vehicles are all from the same library, but I don't recall which oneat the moment. The one with the Grand Cherokee, the Ford pickup, the VW Golf, and the VW Beetle. I admit, the quality is not as high as I would expect for the price of the libraries. However, I've never really found it a problem as I don't usually place vehicles very close to the camera. If you're looking for much better quality, you might check out the Dosch libraries. They're actually 3D, and very affordable.
tommyt
Thanks Eric, that shed light on my issue. The quality on your images are similar to what I am getting, for some reason I though they should be better (price considering), no doubt the further away from camera the better. I just aint convinced of rpc cars, I downloaded the 3 car free sample from lowpolygon3d.com and was surprised how good they looked.
