swenson
I am not a newbie, but I have been working with an individual that has always used Max to model. I take his models, texture and render them. Recently I took on work from another person who uses ADT (Architectural Desktop). He sent me a .dwg file and it "looks" fine in Max 7. Problem arises when the model imports though; - If I choose "combine objects by layer" the model comes in all clumped together. This wouldn't be a problem...but there are various elements of the model on one layer (e.g. part of a wall, part of the roof etc etc). The model can't be "ungrouped" as far as I can see to smaller objects withinthat layer. - If I uncheck "combine objects..." it works alright, but everything comes in named the same; either "line", "3d solid", or "face." Nothing is grouped, named. I could spend a whole day grouping object together....but I'd prefer not to. Questions: - If I had Autocad 2004, could I take the model and make short work of the task by grouping stuff together, making layers etc? - In Max 7, is there a way to "explode" or ungroup the objects in an imported model's layer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
