Eric
I'm curious if anyone can give me some insight to what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to create an email marketing postcard. Yeah, yeah, I know, "EVIL SPAMMER". I don't have a phone in my office, and we can't afford print-mailers. Crazy, I know, but I'm doing all I can currently. Anyway, I have the web page created with graphics and such, but when I send the page as an email it's like the images in the page (which are stored on my website, and being called from the website) are getting included with my email. As such, my email is around 173 KB in size. However, the html file is only 3 KB. Now, I look at the recent evermotion newsletter, or various other newsletters, they are only about 11 KB. Their graphics are sucessfully being called from their respective servers, and not being included with the email. Also, when I test the message and send it to my yahoo account, the images show up fine in the message, but down in the bottom of the message the anti-virus boxes are there asking me if I want to download them or whatever. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? The link below is the address to the page I'm trying to send. www.adcad.com/marketing
4DM
I don't have a phone in my office I beg your pardon? How can you have an office without a phone? Not even a mobile/cell ? 95% of my work comes in by telephone. The enquiries via e-mail are often just that, enquiries. But maybe we're old fashioned, my clients and I ! Cheers, D. PS. Sorry, no idea about those e-mail images, although I'm afraid I'm one of those people who turns off the images in html e-mail by default. Some mail servers can also flag them up as junk from what I hear, so you might consider sending prints by snail mail, or knocking on doors with your folio. Eric
LOL! I knew I'd catch grief about that. It's a long story, but basically my company (Adcad) is owned by an architect. Because of budget cuts, they all the sudden cut our (Adcad) phones. We're doing fine financially, but since our parent company is hurting a bit, they cut our (Adcad) phones. So, the number you see at the bottom of the page is to our parent company. Call them, and they forward to us (Adcad). I have a phone at my desk, I just can't dial outside. It's wierd, I know. Hopefully though you can understand why I am forced to do marketing this way. Oh, yes, I do have a cell phone. It's my personal phone, and I don't get any reimbursement for company calls made with it. So, I'm not about to give that number out. Trust me, I was as baffled as you when they cut our lines. DennisHolland
Hi Eric, you should check out emailgarage for some good advice of how to sent your html-campaign. Their software is free and costs per mail are like 'cents' a piece. It's a very friendly firm with some good advice of how to prevent sending or being accused of spamming, which is pretty good to know. The mails your sending are not sent through your mailclient, but from their dedicated server, so you don't have to worry about a massive amount of KB's. Good luck, Dennis ______________________ Dennis de Priester Interactive Media
