Buffalo Bills
Alright. I had a problem over the weekend trying to render an animation. I had an animation rendering at 24fps and for a minute 10seconds. I went into work to see if it was still chugging away and it crashed on frame 288. The machine told me the program ran out of memory and will shut down. I just received an upgraded machine. Dell 650 3.4ghz processor, 4 gb of ram, 150 gb of storage with a mirrored hardrive. So I don't know why I would receive that crash. Could anyone enlighten me on this issue. I'm a bit confused. I would appreciate it! Thanks! manta
I would imagine that at that frame it came to something that took more memory, like raytraced reflections or too many polygons, take a look at that frame to see if thats the case.... Buffalo Bills
Thanks Manta, I'm going to take a look at that particular frame. I did however notice that there is a map that I used that was apparently huge in size. So I'm going to see about adjusting that to see if that works. Thanks for taking the time to share your idea! abicalho
What file format are you rendering to? TGA? JPG? AVI? Make sure it's not AVI or MOV.
Buffalo Bills
abicalho, The file format I'm rendering my animation in is AVI. I'm not sure why you suggest I don't render it out in that file format. Would you mind explaining to me your thoughts. What would you suggest for a file format that is going to solve my problems. I appreciate your input.
abicalho
TGA, PNG, or any other format will help you better. If the render stops, you can continue rendering. AVIs require the system to append one frame at a time, eating more memory as time goes. Depending on the codec you used, that could have been the reason why you crashed. To convert a file sequence to an AVI once the render is done, just use the RamPlayer. Load all the files in Ramplayer and save them out as an AVI. Hope it helps,

It wasn't very hard to set it all up at all. Thanks again!
