gatino
Hi, I use 3ds max6, with no plugins. I 'm trying and I 'm trying to achieve this "powder" white on walls, in interior daylight scenes. I think I have done everything, but probably I haven't! Any suggestion? Thanks gatino
pmanahan
Can you post an image to make it clearer what you mean? pmanahan
gatino
I mean when the texture on walls, looks like smooth, soft and absolutely pure white, it seems realy that, if you could touch it, it would feel like (it is the only example that comes in my mind) white powder. I must search other people renders, when I find one I 'll link you to it.
Tim Nelson
Why don't you just put a white material on everything, and then add a glow to it in photoshop?
gatino
Might be usefull in some cases, although I 'm not exactly sure if you 're talking about brightness in Photoshop or some other effect.
Tim Nelson
Here's one where I did only white materials. I didn't add a glow in Photoshop though - just adjusted the contrast a little. http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8523&highlight=space+dome
gatino
Interesting white, but to tell you the truth I'm not familiar at all with V-ray. A few months ago, archvision had send me some renderings that they were showing exactly what I 'm talking about, but I can't find any in my disk right now. Here is an almost good example, (somebody who uses also vray). Look the colors, they are bright, clear, not fake, not washed out or burned. Could it be result of good use of radiosity? http://www.cgarchitect.com/news/newsfeed.asp?nid=2498
STRAT
what are we meant to be looking at?
Tim Nelson
Do you mean the Neoscape image at the top of the competition site? If so, I don't see how that relates to "powder white".
gatino
did you read anything above? How can be achieved this quality of colors and especially of white..
gatino
No, I mean something like the link I send you before.
Tim Nelson
did you read anything above? How can be achieved this quality of colors and especially of white.. Practice.
STRAT
No, I mean something like the link I send you before. you havent sent us a link before. only that neoscape image. i think what you want is white whites. even under a dark environment. something that doesnt look muddy, grey and off white. try using self illum. failing that, as mentioned - practice. any artist worth his salt can make white walls look like white walls in any lighting conditions. it's difficult to tut on it unless you provide us with the specifics of your light set up at the time. gatino
Practice. That would never cross my mind!!!... : Ok, when I'm impressed with something i can achieve too, i want to find out more about it, if someone knows something and wants to share. Besides this is what, this thing we are in, is all about.
Tim Nelson
Besides this is what, this thing we are in, is all about. Yes, you are absolutely right. This is the best place to learn the art of architectural rendering. It would be easier to help you if you ask more specific questions though. Not just, 'how to make a rendering like this'. gatino
Maybe I' m not such a good artist... Anyway, i send a link before of a render of the gallery but i don't know why it didn't work. I think i can make white walls look like white and not green maybe, i just expressed a question about something isn't achieved in all interior renderings (in fact in very few), in case somebody had noticed it too. Maybe not. Thank you, i 'll keep on practise anyway, maybe i'll send you an example of my own finally! See you, -wrong-"Talk you.."
gatino
I don't think I asked "how do i make a rendering like this", but if you like to think so it's ok. Considere that i might asked something you haven't noticed. I didn't mean to insult you, but it seems that you mean to.

From the very beginning I have been trying to help (ok, the "practice" comment was not helpful), but if what I suggested or showed earlier isn't what you were looking for, then we need to see a specific example of what you are trying to re-create. Your english seems pretty good, but maybe there is still a little communication problem in understanding what you are trying to achieve. I'm always amazed though, at how many people from other countries know english. How much Greek do I know? It's like Greek to me!

Well, look what the deal is: I 'll find you a render wich shows what i mean, you 'll help me with that (if i don't find the awnser first with my practising!!! ), and then i ll teach you some Greek that won't look like Greek to you! The truth is that i 'm working right now and i can't search, as for the expression i used to describe it, it's an expression that maybe make more sense in my language, maybe so, maybe no. gatino
This is what I don't know, if it is possible to achieve this result with many ways, or is something specific. Maybe v-ray has to do, but i haven't study how it works at all. I downloaded once but i didn't find the time. thanks
