only3d
Sorry man, but its not very proffessional. especially the lighting is very poor. have u considered using vray or mental ray? cuz it would b difficult 4 u 2 get really convincing results without it. (well its not the only way but definitly 1 of the best)
Devin Johnston
Roland, I'm not sure you should start looking for another render engine until you've mastered what Max has got to offer in terms of lighting and materials. The first thing you need to do is make sure your materials are scaled to the proper size. It looks like your CMU block is very large, and what ever you used for your ground plane is also much too big. You have a lot of contrast between the dark and light areas in your image, instead of using just one light try using several, set at different angels and at different levels. Only one of these lights should cast shadows while the other will help to illuminate the darker areas of your image. Your glass material is a little to reflective and there isn't enough transparency, try turning down the reflectivity and making the material less opaque. Finally a different background map would be nice, one that isn't so saturated, try using a gradient that goes from dark blue to light blue, worry about clouds later.
