IC
Following Nisus' tv thread, I'd be interested to know your favourite films/movies. My favourites change like my favourite music and I could probably list over 50 but the enduring ones are: Visuals: Blade Runner. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Storyline/Emotional Involvement: The Mission. Jean De Florette. Entertainment: The Producers. Shrek.

IC
I notice you say the original SW Trilogy. Great films, especially The Empire Strikes Back, but just ruined now by the recent ones. I don't care what anybody says about it all being to do with the age you first saw them at etc-the recent ones just look rushed and overblown and the six together won't be a classic series. Very sad. Brian Cassil
I'm what you would call a SW geek. Empire Strikes back is my favorite movie of all time. I think George himself is the only one who thinks the prequels are as good as the classic trilogy (btw how cool is it that he will be speaking at Siggraph?). Actually I would say Attack of the Clones was almost as good as Return of the Jedi but that is still waaaay behind ESB and A New Hope. Sorry, thought this was Aint It Cool News forum for a minute. Others I hold dearly are Lord of the Rings trilogy, Wizard of Oz, Shaolin Soccer, Forrest Gump, Finding Nemo, pretty much any good Fantasy or Sci Fi which in my book does not include Harry Potter. Brian Cassil
im also a massive Clint Eastwood spoogetty western fan I've always wondered how westerns are percieved in europe. My second favorite quote from any movie is this from Sudden Impact the first Dirty Harry film. "Nah this stuff isn't getting to me - the shootings, the knifings, the beatings. Old ladies being bashed in the head for their social security checks. Nah that doesn't bother me. But you know what does bother me? You know what makes me really sick to my stomach? It's watching you put ketchup on those hotdogs! Nobody - I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog!" Amen Harry
STRAT
my fav quote is - "you were just supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" classic film.
Sawyer
I am really a huge David Lynch fan. I just love his work. Just like a painting but infusing emotions and visual reality. I saw the Pixies doing "In Heaven Everything Is Fine" from Eraserhead when the were on Austin City Limits. Pretty cool. I really could not stand Attack of the Clones. Joseph Campbel helped Lucas with his ideas for the originals and then he died. Lucas needed some sort of help. The first 3 were stories about myth and had some meaty stuff in them. The last 2 movies were just about technology. Putting as much stuff infront of a blue/green screen as possible. AtC had what, 2 scenes of real, outside, on location shooting? Bah. Still I would love to see him at SIGGRAPH The wife got me HERO for xmas. Man I loved that! I like the hong wire work. Really I don't think Hollywood had done much good action till people like Yuen Wo Ping were brought in.

Whats with all these second rate new versions of classic films like The Ring and The Flight Of The Pheonix? Hasn't anyone got any original ideas anymore?
