Ernest Burden III
I got one of those email scam things, suggesting there was some 'issue' with my PayPal account and wouldn't I please follow their link and give them access to my bank account. When you look at the page code you find this: Please follow the link below and renew your account information: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=login-run Notice that the actual URL is to 'redirect.hm' and, the REALLY sneaky part is that it is set so that if the person who gets this looks at the link the mouseover is set to appear to be for paypal.com Bastards. Tim Nelson
Yeah I get the same thing for my Citi credit card. They send out very legitimate looking html emails and say you need to update your information or your card will be suspended. I almost did it the first time and then I realized it was probably a scam before it was too late.
Crazy Homeless Guy
i have received a paypal one before, not sure if it is the same one you described. i always ignore them, if i think there actually is a problem, or i need to access my account, i go directly to the website and log in. Same here. I just wanted to point out the mouseover thing. Because it makes the link LOOK legit.
Jeff Mottle
Yeah count me in on both accounts. Although I don't even have a Citi bank account...good tip off it's a scam. ;-) The paypal ones can be reported on their website. They have a special form for it. ihabkal
some idiot believed it, so the scammer got his credit card, and used his account to get stuff from me, and now paypal froze $1600 of my money because of that idiot. I believe I am not going to see a cent of it. http://www.paypalsucks.com Paypal really sucks.
