Bauhaus revisited

Hi there, this project is almost finished. Rendered with lightracer (2 bounces) and an hdri map in the skylight slot. I really love the house design, hope it is implemented good enough. Critics are welcome, I have to get better. I know the asphalt thing in the first pic is a bit out of the picture, but I can't find a better workaround. Any suggestions?

comming along nicely. nice design too. like the lighting in the second shot, only i'd suggest to tone down the swimming pool material. it looks a tad radioactive as it stands :o

also, in the first image, the compositing is a fair bit off too. you havent matched the cg and the photo closely enough to make it look natural. look at matching the lighting/light contrasting, dof, and colour saturation. as it stands the building is almost 'floating' in the photograph.

also in the 2nd image, how about some reflected caustics on the soffit from the pool? it's crying out for some ;)

Fran,

This might be a dumb question, but would you happen to have a link to Jan Ray Brooks tutorial on that subject of faking caustics?

Lambros,

Nice job on the modeling. Composition on the first image needs a little work but you are not far off from making it believable. Lighting looks very nice.

thanks for the comments, caustics would really be beautiful. There is a slight color bleeding upon the walls, but implementing the real caustics ..... the lightracer with 2 bounces took 6 hours for the 2560x1920 render, I can't bear to think how much it will take with the refractive caustics!!!.

I agree that the background on the 2nd picture is a bit different from the render. There are dark hard shadows which are on the grey side in the render. Perhaps I will blur it a little bit to achieve a fake dof.
