STRAT
Well peeps, what turns you on/off about the cg side of your job? i'll kick off.... LOWS - carparks. i hate modelling carparks, then having to fill them up with hundreds of 3d cars. people clips - like cars, i really dislike having to import and possition hundreds of individual people clips into scenes. trying to populate and busy up shop interiors in my shopping mall models. having to not use gi for massive animations when only scanlined fake gi will do. rendering - we all hate sitting there for hours on end waiting and waiting. HIGHS - drawing 3d all day when all my collegues got the drudgery of plain old 2d cad draughting to get on with. not having anyone above me in my firm telling me how i should be doing things. test rendering - i love setting up lighting rigs and test rendering for the final push. seeing ur work published on tv/magazines/bill boards (also had an image on a fleet of taxis in town before now) being the only guy in work with 3 powerfull pc's on my desk. being allowed more free run of the internet graphics forums than most peeps. getting new fresh work from my bosses every week or so. IC
LOWS: Repetitive modelling. Lighting tests that just don't turn out as you want them to. Sending/posting an image only to make it 10 times better within the next 10 minutes. HIGHS: Getting better with every project. Killing a project in a day or two days. lambros
LOWS stupid clients that do not have a hint about the time and effort put in a project and consider my fees over the top 10 min test renders that devour my time little by little people/trees/cars HIGHS high tech pcs and gadgets getting the GI right props that really fit a space
Arnold Sher
Lows: -never having enough time to make it completely bling because of a client who keeps pestering -making the rendering completely awesome only to have a client requesting an added detail that completely spoils the image -always chasing the money that is late (cheque in the post) -never having enough time to use cg for the animations -still on windows platform and hating every second of it Highs: -making a deadline everytime -loving my work -Being able to live wherever i want, whenever i want cause i ain't got a boss -having the hottest hardware out there with all the whistles imaginable -having staff who share my passion and actually enjoy coming to work

Iain Denby
Lows. Working on architects drawings when the plans and elevations don't match up. Waiting for clients to respond to draft renders. Waiting for cheques that are overdue. Cad drawings which are too heavy in your 3D Modelling program (despite stripping them down as much as possible). Highs. Having lots of work. Banking the cheques. Embellishing my render in Photoshop. Seeing my work in mags etc. gaining respect from my peers (yes, that's you lot). Working at home from a spare bedroom. Ernest Burden III
Well, Iain nailed my list. I suppose I could add a few things, like: LOW *sitting people in a restaurant *client chooses WORST view possible *ad agencies HIGH *buying new software thinking its going to solve all my problems *snowboarding, the beach, walking about the city and going to sci-fi movies are officially WORKING. trhoads
HIGHs: -the look on a clients face when the see what their project will look like. -the client thinking that they got a photograpgh, not a rendering. -having people wanting what you are doing, no matter how long they have to wait. -variety. LOWS: -the client wanting cars in the parking lot, that you don't have in your library, cause they aren't free. -changes, changes, changes. -render times. -out of memory error messages.
