IC
Anybody had artifact problems with FPrime that don't show up with the native renderer? These are stills from a walkthrough and I'm getting light leaks above the curved wall (first image) and weird effects from the glass going through the floor to the ceiling below (second image). The geometry all fits together perfectly. Any ideas?
Allen
I've had a few issues with FPrime - not like those. To be hones, I really had to look hard to see any problems with your renders. They actually look great to me. When I do have rendering problems, usually reducing the size of my polygons by tripling or knifing fixes the issue. Don't know if that will help at all here. semtscho
Hi Iain, unfortunatley I have no answer regarding your question. But I just wondered if you are able to get similiar results with LW's native renderer? In the "let there be light" competition I was able to get some decent results of the test interior scene with LW's radiosity and two bounces. But when I try to add reflections to that scene (all walls reflective), render time increases dramatically while the results get crappy. FPrime however was able to produce good results in this scenario. As you also have reflections and transparency in your scene, are you able to get decent results with LW's renderer like the ones above? I like FPrime but there are still some issues that keep me from using it regularly (e.g. I'm not able to expose the image after rendering based on hdr lighting data, so if the image is too dark I can only rerender or tweak it in Photoshop but only based on 24bit RGB data)
IC
I have certain projects where I revert to LW for rendering but generally FPrime handles most scenes much quicker with little loss of quality. It's just these little unexpected quirks! Sometimes if the geometry is not 100% aligned, FPrime doesn't see it at all and it's difficult to find the problem.
