Devin Johnston
I've had a few animations where the job gets to 99% complete and only has a few frames left to complete. No matter how long I let the job run it will never complete it. Is this a bug and can anything be done about it?
Bugga_Guy
I have had the same problem. I even have on occasion where some frames get skipped (i see little pops/jerks) when I put everything in premiere. In my case it only happens here and there and not all the time - but never the less its quite annoying.
Jennifer
What version software are you using? With max 6 and 7, I have not had any problems with badly saved frames, or problems with network rendering. Old versions of max, before Backburner, had lots of issues. Woody
I've had similar problems in the past and have found that if you suspend the job and then re-assign it, it tends to kick back in and finish the remaining frames.
Devin Johnston
I'm using Max 7 and I've had the same problem with Max 6. I remember hearing that if you have more than 50 PC's on your farm that the manager has trouble with it. I have over 100 and I'm begening to wonder wheather or not I should try setting up a second manager to see if that fixes the problem. Have any of you tried this? jucaro
That seems to be a latency problem. Try using a network monitoring tool and watch the traffic during job submissions to and from the manager and server computers and see which station is lagging. Some packets may have been dropped during transit. This happens when you have large job submissions. Setting up another manager is also an option, but before you do that, also try grouping the servers(backburner) and assign jobs in groups rather than all at once. Devin Johnston
Thanks Juan that sounds like a good idea, and it's a lot less work. Any idea why it drops the packets?
