Realistic roughcast

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone might be able to help me.

I have attached a 3d house rendering drawn using Turbocad v10 and Photoshop Elements.

The problem I am having is being able to achieve a good drydash (roughcast) effect. As you can see the biege r'cast on my model appears too smooth. Ideally, I would like to achieve something like Roughcast B (attached) which I spotted recently in a sales brochure.

Can anyone suggest a good texture or a way of achieving this specific effect.

Thankyou in advance.

Also, some of the 3d designs/renderings on this website are amazing. I would be most grateful for any advice on improving my house rendering. :)

i know nothing about roughcast but you need to get the kerb in the wide shot down to at least 100mm and more like 75-50mm if this is a culdesac etc

also you might want to add a bellcast housunf at bottom of the roughcast

the little details are the ones that add up

but looking overall you've got the handle on how to treat a generic uk garden planting scheme

main problem seems to be the turbocads lack of bump mapping

Hi Stewart,

Welcome to the forum.

The way to do it if you've no bump facility is to use a procedural texture in the colour channel that's not too different from the main colour. This'll give a bit of variation.

It's never going to look very realistic without bump though. That's why we call it 'rough'cast up here.

This is a previous discussion on roughcast:
