leoA4D
jackb604 gave me a lot of help with this (much thanks), but, I have one problem. This is the setup - Material>Color>Fusion level, Noise is selected for the Base Channel. Then, go down the next level and there, the item Noise (small static label) with a button to the right is the issue. Jack's button is empty and mine has "Noise" and I need to but can't remove it. It is inserted automatically from actions one level above. How can I avoid "Noise" from being inserted and how can I remove it permanently? Note, images labeled with 1 are from Jack's file and those with a 2 are mine. Edit: for the correct image order, swap (Jack's) image 1 with 2 and (my) image 3 with 4. jackb602
I'm not sure I follow your question. If you want to remove the noise shader from the base channel, click on the triangle next to "Base Channel" and select "Clear". Now you can select whatever shader or bitmap you want for that channel. Does that answer your question? Jack
leoA4D
Jack, thanks for coming back. I did that at the next to the lowest level and when I chose a new material it showed up on the button at the lowest level. There is no triangle and drop down at the lowest level to clear that button. See the first and third images. How did you learn to do this? Is there a tut? C4D's like an onion. I'm stunned with the complexity and having fun with your share. jackb602
Hi Leo, The "noise" item in the drop down menu is the type of noise you have selected. It's confusing because "Noise" is the name of a type of noise, just like Dents, Cranal, etc. If you click on the triangle to the right, you can select any of dozens of noises. If you want a noise shader, you have to select one of these types. That's why you can't clear your choice. If you just want a solid color, then just select "Color" for the Base Channel of the Fusion shader. It looks like my texture isn't actually using the noise, and I'm not sure why. It's been a while since I looked at this project. I agree that Cinema has many layers, and there are still huge areas of it I haven't explored. The best way to learn is just by trial and error. There are also some great tutorials on the web. If you haven't checked it out yet, go to C4Dcafe.com. They have a big library of free video tutorials which are really helpful. leoA4D
Thanks for the ride; I haven't been down here before. I understand, in a limited way, about Noise. The fact I could not get my reverse engineering to match your setup, i.e., to delete the "Noise" shader from the button, has confused me. BTW, what in Fusion causes the tiles to appear to have a rough edge? Noise, again? I've been scouring two other C4D forums for tuts and have only found, so far, elementary material application tuts. There are two more that I will look in when time allows. Cheers!
