Hozz
ok now .. when i try to make a cornich on a house i use this method .. i draw a spline line alont the cieling plan .. then i draw the shape of the cornich i will use and then i choose the cieling line and make "loft" then pick the shape .. what happens is like in the pics sometimes the shape done inside ! but i wanted to be outside the path so how can i control this thing ?? second question .. is somtimes the loft doesnt continue till the end of the path .. i mean i got this empty space between the start and end point or it continue till it colapse with the other point and then u can see parts showin from the sides i wonder if u know wht i mean .. i didnt face this problem now but it alwasy happen with me ?? one last thing ... why it scaled the shape and made it bigger than the original one i draw ???? i know i can use the scale option and make it smaller again .. but i think this shouldnt be happening in the first place ! right ?! i know guys u faced all this problems b4 so it will be really helpfull if u show me the light coz i am sure i will use the "loft" thingy too much in future

DennisHolland
Hi Hozz, for the side that goes straight ahead instead of turning nicely around the corner? It's better to have two lofts, one for the 90 dgr. + 1 for the arc. substract around the corner with a boolean and it should look okay. Just think as a carpenter and 'saw' your ends on a 45 degr. angle and close it up (attach). It's a bit unorthodox but it works allright for me... You see, lofting is tricky at first. You will having trouble with corners all the time because the radius should be big enough to make the turn, without having vertices falling over eachother and giving artifacts (like you have in the second picture). Reference shapes will go every way, but the right one. It's a matter of doing it a lot, just like so many other things in life Just use two or three splines and a boolean instead of one welded triangle-shaped spline. Good luck, Dennis

Hozz
Hi sam .. when u pick the shape .. try it first time without the "Ctrl" key .. and then try it again but press and hold the "Ctrl" when u pick the shape .. it will make the diffrence in the shape direction if its in or out !
