Gary Gresham
It's time for a new workstation here, and time for the usual research. I've been talking to the Boxx crew, and the new dual Opteron workstations are pretty reasonably priced, really. They report that the Opterons are comparable to a "2.4 - 3.06 Ghz XEON in 32-bit mode." Of course 64-bit performance will be better, whenever that happens. But it's a new technology, and I can't find much info on max performance and stability on this new platform. Anyone got any experience/info to report? Thanks... gary

Greg Hess
Boxx is sending me a dual to test with soon. (I'm waiting for the 248's or 250's to become available). I will as always report back data.

Gary Gresham
Thanks guys. I'm really curious how these new chips perform in "real" world max use. For now I think I'll put some more duct tape on the dual Athlon box and wait for info. And for some prices to drop.
