carloscristerna
hello everyone, I have a very big model of 3 buildings, when using Mental ray or Vray, does scaling it down will help to do a faster render?? Carlos Cristerna.
JamesTaylor
As far as i'm aware it won't but i have never tested such as situation. if you could post your findings if you give it ago i'd be interested seeing what effect it had on render time
IC
You can't fool a render engine. It would still have to process the same number of faces and how they react to each light in the scene. The scale size of the model won't affect this. What you have to do is reduce your polygon count or optimise the scene in other ways.
STRAT
some render engines react differently (output wise) to models of varying scales, but render speeds never change.
carloscristerna
thats what I though, but since some of the renderers like mental ray and Vray do take in count image size for some of the parameters well, I just give it a thought, I will run a test tonight and tell you tomorrow what happened. IC
When you say image size, do you mean the render output? The resolution of the render is one of the major factors in render times with any renderer.
