DennisHolland
Hi all, I've allready made my avatar out of an earlier attempt, but here's the modified closeup for the faucets in my Venetian bathroom (private project). This one came out pretty fine as a hdri test, only some artifacts on the white emaille. I had it testrendered at the respower-farm on 4000px, resized for placing here to 800px. I thought it would be nice to post it here for some c&c. The bathroom itself (L-shaped, old style, lot's of terracotta-tiles and weathered wooden floor, drapes and a very old tub on old iron feet) will be finished in a couple weeks. Thanks, all the best... evanmoses
looking very good dennis! good work! A couple of things. The camera angle makes the faucet taps look like they're facing in two different directions. Maybe draw it back and use a longer focal length lens. The other thing is that it looks like the "cold" tap has all lower case letters while the "HOT" one has all capitals. Maybe that's how it is in real life but I thought it looked a little strange. Also, the tiles behind the sink kind of don't feel like they are the right size, but that could just be me. Anyways, other than the artifacts, can't really find much else. Really good work and great materials. Is the HDRI of the actual bathroom? Did you make it yourself? Evan
DennisHolland
Thanks Evan! Yes, the camera is just a default 43 and no focal adjustments. But I've allready tested the empty (claymodel) bathroom with a 28 and it should be fine, I hope... The bathroom will be in realworld dimensions so it's more easy for me to work on single assets (drop 'm right in the scene and don't have to worry about resizing when i'm finished with all parts). I've gone far in research before i started this project. I even looked up some info about old north Italian sculpturists and stonetile-workers. The most used size is slightly larger and thicker than Western style tiles actually (11"x11" or 28x28cm). This is more an event for me to see how far I can go with realism and it's a great learning experience, to be honest. The hdri is just the 'kitchenglobe.hdr' but when i'm finished with the bathroom, I will give it a try to make a hdri-map out of the scene (heavy lightened just to have a strong HDR map at the end) but I don't know if that works out fine, we'll see about that in another wip. I'm gonna post all critical steps. I kinda like the 'from scratch to finish' threads out here. The 'cold' faucet? Well...hhmm, maybe you're right (damn) it's fixed in the next w.i.p! Good luck. Dennis PS, The headline of this thread is wrong. Is there someone who can take care of that? (must be Venice-bathroom) It will be here forever...
