DennisHolland
A loft is an open spaced, mostly renovated elevation made within' an old building. Here in Rotterdam you see that a lot in the old areas of our main-port, made out of unused warehouses. I guess in New york it's pretty much the same song.... So basically it's a big open space with equal flooring in an old building. Hip, trendy, yuppy-style, etc... Try this one: http://images.google.nl/images?q=new+york+loft&hl=nl&btnG=Google+zoeken (0.5 secs. intensive googlin') Regards, Dennis
Ernest Burden III
Try this one: Those pictures look about right. What about 'NY loft' do you need? Mostly now they would be high-end spaces for the super-rich, but when I lived in that part on NYC they were more likely very raw spaces, often even illegal to live in. Downtown lofts were a new frontier that were reclaimed from NY's lost manufacturing past by artists and other freaks as places to live. Think dark streets, nowhere to buy food and endless stairs and no heat, strange parties and a sense of endless possibilities. Once the artists had tasted the fruit it was shown to be safe for the gentry, and the pioneers were forced out by rising costs, only to move on to other areas, only to be pushed out to other areas, only to move on..... And it continues to this day in NY and probably every major city on Earth.
Michael-k
Just about anything, I dont know nothing about it, so its just a little research. Here in November I have to make the last project at my school, and I just want to make a NY loft. The location will be in a old church, I think it will be possible to make it in that location. Ernst if you know some places in New York who is open for the public, it would be great. We will travel over there here in june on a little 5 day trip. So we have some time to look at it, if its possible to find.
