Tim Nelson
I'm trying to import an xfrog model into Viz using the free plug-in for Max 6. It sort of works, but is totally screwing up all the geometry. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks again.
Da_RoCk
Hi tim, try to check on the leaves parameters of the xfrog model in the xfrog program itself. Is it on an object/spline mode or plane? that usually screws up my models in xfrog.
Telemachus
I'm trying to import an xfrog model into Viz using the free plug-in for Max 6. It sort of works, but is totally screwing up all the geometry. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks again. I just recently bought XFrog with some libraries, and have the same problem, even with the plug-in that comes with the software. I've imported the .xfr models into a scene and have had flowers bigger than houses. I compensate by scaling the objects down in VIZ using the scale and transformer tool. This doesn't give you the exact measuresments XFrog displays in the pdf file for each plant or tree, but you can at least get the plants downsized relative to the size of the objects in your environment. This works well. Sometimes, importing an .xfr file causes an error that causes VIZ to shut down. That was frustrating, too. Also, if you actually have the XFrog software, you can import the model into that and then export as a .3ds file, which can be imported into VIZ. This works, but be sure you have script that welds different joints together. The welding works great for small plants and flowers, but doesn't work so great on larger trees. Simply put, to get the best useage from XFrog, your better off using a new version of 3DS MAX. It works well in VIZ 4.2, but something tells me it works better in MAX and MAYA, where there is bound to be a higher client base. Still, I'd take XFrog over an other plant modeller out there.
